Homebased Business Part 5- Configuring Your Affiliate Store

For those who has uploaded and successfully installed Affilistore, you would surely have taken a peep at the general look of your Affiliate Store. Configuring the store is pretty much straight forward for most part except for the part where you have to insert the feeds in the “Manage Product Feed” section. As I assume that most of you who are confident enough to set up an affiliate store is already quite savvy, I will not be dwelling into much detail for those easy parts, else this post is going to be a few thousand words long. LOL. However, I will try my hands at screencasting. I have downloaded some free programs for doing simple screencasting and if I can learn how to use it by tonight, I will do a screencast on the entire process on how to configure your affiliate store.
Okay, log in to your Affilistore Admin and we shall go straight to the Manage Product Feeds section. First we must upload the feeds that we downloaded as mentioned in Part 4. Now it is important that you do this right. All other sections can be edited except for this one. If you screw up, you will have to delete the entire process and start all over again.

Under the Add A Product Feed section, choose the second option, which is “Upload Product Feed” For Select Feed Type, select, CSV(pipe). If you remember the notification we got from ShareASale before we downloaded the datafeeds, it says “Fields are seperated by the “|” “Pipe” symbol, not by the comma.” Once the upload is complete, you will be presented with this screen.

This is the most confusing part if you haven’t properly listed out the “Procduct Feed Review” which I told you to copy it in Notepad and decipher it one by one in my last post. If you are very good in Spreadsheets, you can also do it there. I am hopeless with Excel, so I copied and pasted the info one by one manually. You are however given a drop down menu for each category so you can choose the appropriate one to fill in. So refer to your list which I presumed you have saved somewhere. The MOST CRUCIAL part is “Affiliate Product Link” If you fill in the wrong info and your UserID is not in it, then you will not be credited with the sale. So double check first. It should be the one with your UserId in it.
The rest of the area, you will have to depend on your common sense and choose the most appropriate description according to the list from your Feed Preview. The last part, choose the dollar sign for your price list. If you have two sets of prices, the lower one will be the wholesale price and the higher one is the retail price. Select the retail price. If you want to display the wholesale price, then use any one of the “Extra Filed”, choose that price and in the adjacent column, type in Wholesale Price. After you are sure everything is good, click on the button to upload your store.
You will now be able to see your products being displayed. From then on, you can tweak the store to your fancy by going back to your Admin panel, and removing things you do not want or add things that you like to have. For the next post, we shall see how best to tweak our Affiliate Store.

Hi, Ah Pek,
I couldn’t upload the product feed file. It’s loading and loading to no end.
I am supposed to upload the 1234.txt or the 1234.zip? Sorry…;D
Before that I changed to my ShareASale UserID already.
Another question. If the datafeed contains more than 20,000 products, does that mean I download all too? I mean the Download.csv there.
Thanks.
It seems that I ask a lot hor.

After replacing your UserID, you save the feeds as .txt . then upload this .txt file.
Yes, you downloaded 20,000 products so it will take some time to upload, especially with the lousy connection these days. Take your time, go and make some coffee and wait.
